5000 MILE PLAN....

IT IS MY GOAL TO WALK 5000 MILES...

averaging 100 miles in all 50 States....  and complete this goal (I hope) upon my 50th birthday???  That's a 10 year (now 9 year) goal...  So, how do I calculate my miles?  Do "training walks count"?  If so, then I count each lap around Costco or Target with the shopping cart?  No....   Some walks are what I call officially registered walks... "Walk for..." and a certain km/mile attached...  And some will be my own "Fun Walks" that I will post as they happen.....  If someone proposes a certain walk or recommends a particular path or course, please, share it and I'll see if I can walk those miles too...

So, Here's my list of States, Walks, and Locations...  If there is a BOLD NUMBER....  that means I have so far walked that many miles in that state...  Of course California will get extra walking miles in as it is where I call home... but the rest of the country is beautiful and I'm going to make it a goal to see it... a lot of it...

ALASKA

ALABAMA

ARKANSAS

ARIZONA

CALIFORNIA = 45.2 miles (Updated September 9, 2013)
     DiDi Hersch - Walk for Suicide Prevention - September 2012 - 10K - As part of "Team Lifesavers" I walked in memory of Elizabeth Szucs.  My best friend.
     RELAY FOR LIFE - TEAM TOWERS TIMBERWOLVES - April 2013 - 4 miles
     AVON WALK FOR BREAST CANCER SANTA BARBARA - September 2013 - 35 Miles*
          This was a 39.2 mile walk for 2 days... 26.2 miles on day one, 13 miles on day two.
I took a shuttle from mile 16 to 18 due to dehydration and a muscle cramp in my leg, got out of the heat for few minutes to a hydration-station at marker 18 and then moved on with the walk.. Miles 20 - 24 were UGLY SORE AND NOT FUN... On Day two, and mile 34 my first blisters showed up, so again I took what I call the "Band-aid bus" to get me to the next rest stop where I could tend to my blisters properly... and then continue walking the last 3 miles and finish the walk.  The last 3 miles were the best and worst.. the last 3/4 of the last mile being the longest....
