Preparing for the Holidays

The weeks between October and now have been... tough.
Too much candy from Halloween has crossed my lips... and well, I have a lot of walking to do to make up for it. With all the goodness and sweetness of Thanksgiving, and Christmas,.... I better get a hold of my reasonable mind and take care of it before it takes care of me.

I've increased my mileage each month considerably. 5.5 the day after Thanksgiving...
and the 3 mile track-walk I did last Monday. I'm amazed that a year ago, the thought of 6 laps (1 1/2 miles) was a challenge... this time 12 laps was almost too easy. I rounded lap 10 and thought... wow, I can keep going. It's a great feeling when you know your body is starting to improve in stamina...

I've started letting my close family and friends know about my long distance walking plans. Of course I've had some resistance from my own mom... but I think in the long run she'll understand that this is not just some selfish fantasy... but it's a healthy challenge for me. I want to be healthy and see my kids grow up... and enjoy doing activities with them... and I'm the only one who can make that happen.

If you are my friend, and are reading this... then please click on the "follow this blog" on the side menu... let me know you are supporting me on my venture...

Thanks....

Happy Feet!!!
