Under consideration while I plan my long distance walks, is the impact being away from my children will have on the kids, my husband, and my extended family. While I have their support for my walking, and better health.... I'm finding resistance, all be it justified, in them taking over the mom roll for more than a week. My kids would be 6, 8, and 10... the way I originally planned it... and though I still plan to do it... maybe not so soon. Add another 5 years, and Fiona will be 11, Alex 13, and David turning 15... a much more magageble age, and perhaps they can be more involved in the walking and planning as well...
In the meantime, I've decided to plan long distance walks closer to home, throughout the state of California... Perhaps all the State Parks?
My New Year's Day walk was quite enjoyable... nearly 13 miles along the coast, and up past the airport before meeting up with my hubby and the kids.
